Destination: Ionian Islands

Ionian Sea Islands lie off the western coast of Greece. The area includes seven main islands, ten smaller ones and numerous uninhabited islets. Corfu, Lefkas, Zante and the mythical Ithaca are the most popular sailing destinations, yet again, Kefalonia, Paxoi and the smaller islands have nothing to be jealous of their bigger brothers, in terms of beauty in natural landscape. The main characteristic of the Ionian landscape is their green color due to the trees that cover them and run down to the sea level. Another characteristic are the numerous, isolated bays with tranquil waters, around each and every island. This combination creates ideal destinations for sailing holidays, since yachts can anchor in ideal settings, and travellers can admire the natural beauty hardly found in any other place.

Most of the Ionian islands are close to each other which makes moving from one to the other a timeless journey. Corfu and Paxoi lie farther to the north, nevertheless their distinctive landscape make them worth visiting.

Lefkas island is the main sailing base with the widest availability and Corfu island comes next with fewer yachts. The possibility of embarking from one island and disembarking on another also exists, usually with an extra charge.
